As a mother of a young lady, creating coloring pages and busy books were one of my first projects. I did it for fun and to entertain my daughter. Naturaly i am creative person, i love to learn new tools and move the board of what i can do futher and futher. I have tested several tools for creating coloring pages but after AI burst into our life this task become really easy. Of course some of the tools are better for this paritcular project and some of them worst. Here is the exact step how I am creating coloring pages in 2025.
ChatGPT with DALL·E 3
in one of my previous posts I already mention that for me its currently the best tool for such approach. In case i am running out of the ideas first what i do is to ask chatgpt about the ideas for coloring book.
My coloring books have usualy around 20 pages so once i select a topic i ask chatgpt to suggest theme for all 20 pages.
Now here comes the fun. We need to generate all 20 pages. And again our friend chatgpt is willing to help with this as well. The image generation is fast, but please keep on mind you can generate just one in time adn there is also a timmer (which is actually about 12 seconds), which will not allow you to generate pictures really fast one after each other. Also in the time of writting this article it was not possible to simply tell to chapt gpt generate picture for all generated thema. It always generate just one and than wating for your input again.
As you can see, chatGPT with DALL·E 3 did a great job. Picture like this was on my mind…magic right? Most of the people when they hear AI image generation the first tool which is on their mind is Midjourney. I am using both. But each of them for a different purpose. Midjourney is great for art generation, I have several nice posters even in my apartment. But when it comes to this kind of simple job. You have to be really precise in given prompt and still you dont have guarantee it will do simple picture. Midjourney is artist. ChatGPT is clear winner for me in simple coloring book pictures generation.
Generating all 20 pictures took me around one hour. During that time i also prepared one cup of ice coffee and wrote half of this post 🙂
Quality of Generated Images
Generated pictures have a default resolution 1024 x 1536 px in case of ratio 3:4. If you rae creating pictures just for your kids or for fun, this quality is enough. But if you think about monetization of created pictures you would need tool where you can increase quality of generated pictures. For that purpose I am using tool called Topaz Gigapixel. Its not free tool, but you buy lifetime licence for really afforable prize. If you are planning to sell your coloring book or any other AI art generated images sell, it really worth to do this low investment into Topaz Gigapixel.

Cleaning Up the Images
Once you have all your images generated and ready in high resolution, it’s time to do fine-tuning and cleaning. Generated images might have a slightly gray background instead of white or contain little odd details that just don’t look right. To fix these imperfections, I use Adobe Photoshop. For example, this lady here didn’t seem quite sure if she wanted to wear a dress or trousers. As i still liked the picture i fixed the issue in Photoshop easily.
Finalizing Your Product
Now its time to put it all together. For this task, I am using Canva, as I realize it’s easy to use and even the free version has enough features for this. You would need a cover page. It’s absolutely up to you and your imagination how you will handle this.
Once your coloring book is ready, you simply download it in your preferred format, and that’s it – your FIRST PRODUCT IS READY!
